Ace Hardware Corp. has announced expansion plans for its retail support center in West Jefferson, Ohio, as part of the co-op’s plans to grow and restructure its distribution network.
The renovations will add more than 300,000 square feet to the existing 534,000-square-foot distribution facility.
Construction for the project is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2018 and be completed in the first quarter of 2019, according to the co-op.
“We look forward to breaking ground on the expansion of our West Jefferson retail support center, an integral piece in Ace’s overall supply chain,” Lori Bossmann, executive vice president and chief supply chain officer at Ace Hardware, says. “Ace’s continued volume growth has driven our need for a larger facility to accommodate our growing business demands.”
The co-op’s other distribution restructuring efforts have included investing in a new 1.1 million-square-foot retail support center in Fredericksburg, Pennsylvania. This facility serves Ace Hardware stores in Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.
The West Jefferson, Ohio, distribution center originally opened in 2014 and supplies Ace Hardware locations throughout Ohio, parts of Michigan, eastern Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia and western Pennsylvania.
“We are thrilled Ace has decided to grow its business operations in West Jefferson, and we are confident that this expansion will have a positive impact on their business and our community,” Ray Martin, mayor of West Jefferson, says.
