As spring arrives and home and business owners across the country venture outside to consider their landscaping options, e-commerce giant Amazon is adding a new product category: live plants.
In late February, the company introduced the Amazon Plants Store, Fortune reports. This special section of its website offers a selection of shrubs, flowers, succulents and more from a range of brands.
In addition, the Amazon Plants Store allows users to sort its product offering by a range of factors, including brand, price and whether a plant is best housed indoors or outdoors.
The website also offers planting and upkeep tips sponsored by Proven Winners to help ensure customers care for their new purchases properly.
The prices are on par with other gardens and nurseries, Fortune reports. Most of the plants are also eligible for Amazon’s Prime shipping program, which means users can order a plant and have it shipped to their home or office within two days.
In addition to this new product offering, Amazon recently purchased video doorbell company Ring for $1 billion. The company is also in the final stages of selecting the location for its second headquarters, a decision Amazon says will bring 50,000 jobs to the area it selects.
