Earlier this spring, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that the annual celebration of small businesses, National Small Business Week, will be April 30 through May 6.
The federal agency has since planned events and awards that will highlight the strengths small businesses contribute nationally. During National Small Business Week, SBA administrator Linda McMahon will make a cross-country road trip, honoring small businesses and small business owners’ accomplishments in each place she visits.
In addition to visiting small businesses, the SBA will be hosting webinars throughout the week, featuring topics such as the U.S. economic outlook, ways to grow an e-commerce presence and small business innovation.
Here is an overview of the week’s SBA events:
Monday, May 1
The trip will kick off in Washington, D.C., where McMahon will announce the National Small Business Person of the Year and will present other notable small business awards.
Tuesday, May 2
McMahon will join Erin Egan, Facebook’s vice president and chief privacy officer, in a Facebook Live chat, taking questions about business solutions from the audience.
Wednesday, May 3
McMahon will travel to Speedway, Indiana, to engage with small business owners in the Midwest.
Thursday, May 4
The road trip heads to Arlington, Texas, to meet with Sherrill Lester, president of QMF Steel, and “hear the inspiring stories of successful small business owners,” according to the SBA.
Friday, May 5
The final stop of the tour will be in Fresno, California, where McMahon will meet with agricultural small business owners.
