5 Products to Insulate Homes in Cold Weather

As the colder months quickly approach, homeowners will be looking to secure and insulate their homes from cold air. Hardware Retailing recommends these five products to prepare a home for chilly weather.

Thermal Curtains

These thermal curtains from Curtarra are thermal blackout curtains made with three layers to insulate heat in a room. Made with thick chenille fabric, the curtains block out 70-80% of light and can reduce noise by about 20 decibels.

The Velvet Thermal Curtains from Amore Beauté are window and door curtains with a wool felt backing. The curtains reduce draft during cold weather, block light by up to 99.2% and cut sound by up to 23 decibels.

Space Heaters

The Radiator Heater OH310 from Dreo offers 1500-watt heating with heat dispersion from seven fins. The heater has triple overheat protection, is made from fire-resistant materials and features an LED touchscreen display with a remote control, child lock and 24-hour timer.

This plug-in electrical panel wall heater from Envi efficiently heats rooms up to 150 square feet with 500 watts. The heater is 2 inches thick and features a fanless, non-forced air design that doesn’t blow dust or allergens into air.

Weather Stripping

The High Reach Compression Weatherstrip from Pease Doors is an 81-inch compression strip that seals ¼ to ½-inch gaps. The weatherstrip is recommended for wood or fiberglass doors and is available in three color options.
