Home improvement customers now have a one-stop online shop for purchasing installation services along with products such as ceiling fans, light fixtures and appliances.
Porch, which is an online service for helping consumers find local home improvement professionals, and Wayfair, a web seller of home furnishings, are now collaborating to sell installation and assembly services to Wayfair customers, the Puget Sound Business Journal reports.
The partnership launched last week in 15 markets, including Seattle, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago and Denver, the business journal says.
The collaboration gives Wayfair customers, who may need help assembling and installing the goods they buy online, the opportunity to add Porch home improvement services to their shopping carts on the Wayfair website.
The new Wayfair-Porch service is intended to save shoppers the time and hassle of looking for installation services elsewhere after making online purchases.
Porch is also a Lowe’s partner. Lowe’s is an investor in Porch and refers customers to the company to find local home improvement professionals.
Matt Ehrlichman, Porch’s CEO, says his staff expects his company’s exposure to Wayfair customers to help Porch financially after layoffs last year, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal. Porch is headquartered in Seattle, where the business journal is also located.
