Tractor Supply Co. experienced year-over-year increases in sales and income for its first quarter of 2015.
Net sales were $1.33 billion, an increase of nearly 13 percent over first-quarter 2014. The company’s net income grew by approximately 19 percent, reaching $58 million.
The increases were driven by growth in store traffic and ticket numbers, and comparable store sales were up by about 5 percent, according to the company.

Tractor Supply is the largest rural lifestyle retail store chain in the U.S. The Brentwood, Tennessee, company opened 41 stores and closed one in the first quarter of 2015. The company owns about 1,400 locations.
“We are pleased with our performance in the first quarter and the overall trends in our business. Sales growth was well balanced across all major merchandise categories and geographic regions, driven by increases in both traffic and ticket,” Sandfort says.
