The smart-home phenomenon is turning from fiction to reality.
Lowe’s and Icontrol Networks have partnered to offer more options for customers who want to make their homes smarter, according to Market Watch.
Starting in early 2015, many of Lowe’s Iris smart home devices, such as thermostats and lightbulbs controlled via smartphone, will be certified through IControl’s OpenHome Developer Program. The certification ensures the devices sync together with Icontrol-powered solutions, the article says.
Icontrol’s OpenHome program assures consumers their devices are all compatible. Devices and applications currently certified in the program include Nest, Philips Hue, LG Smart Bulbs, the Logitech Harmony Remote and more, the article says.
“Lowe’s is committed to providing customers with truly open smart home platforms,” Jay Rebello, vice president of new business and development and corporate innovation for Lowe’s, says in the article. “Icontrol helps expand the number of easy-to-install, compatible products available to consumers, allowing users to easily find smart home solutions that fit their lifestyles and make their lives easier.”
