Do it Best VP of IT Announces Retirement

After nearly 20 years of service, John Mergy, vice president of information technology for Do it Best, announced his retirement this week.

Mergy first joined Do it Best as the manager of the IT division’s project management office, quickly advancing through leadership roles as divisional manager of application development and director of application portfolio management. In 2018, he was appointed vice president of information technology, bringing more than 30 years of IT leadership and strategic planning experience to the cooperative.

During his tenure, John led a WMS implementation, which was rolled out network-wide in record time, launched a new e-commerce platform and successfully navigated moving the company’s headquarters with no issues.

“We are deeply grateful for John’s service and leadership,” says Do it Best executive vice president of operations Dent Johnson. “His contributions have helped shape the technology infrastructure that drives the success of our members and positions Do it Best as a leader in the home improvement industry.”
