Deckorators recently released its annual 2024 Outdoor Living Report featuring insights and trends compiled from industry experts and members of the Deckorators Certified Pro Program.
The report identifies the latest shifts and trends in the outdoor living design space. Throughout the previous year, Deckorators engaged with its deck and dock builders on what’s new, up and coming and what homeowners are looking for.
According to their experts, people are looking to maximize the utility of their spaces and extend their use throughout the changing seasons. See highlights from the report below.
1. Kitchens: Hot Takes
Dedicated outdoor kitchens are a leading trend for 2024. The inclusion of a variety of elements, from integrated storage and trash receptacles to refrigerators and TVs, extends the outdoor kitchen’s functionality. Deckorators experts also noted their clients ask additional prep areas and extended counter spaces.
2. Regional Differences
With different regions often dictating varying functionalities and color, Deckorators experts saw one commonality in every region is the desire for various shades of brown. Western states prefer dark browns, while the east coast sees many lighter browns and some grays.
3. Privacy and Shade Structures
Being able to be outside and still feel the privacy of being indoors is something Deckorators sees its customers being cognizant of when designing their decks.
4. Headers and Fire Features
As homeowners spend more time outside, demand for outdoor heaters and fire features has increased, both as a low-cost heating solution for outdoor spaces and to create ambiance.
