HoloLens Coming to Additional Lowe’s Locations

A revolutionary idea that came to a couple of Lowe’s stores earlier this year is spreading to a few more locations, and it will come with some new features, too.

This past spring, Lowe’s partnered with Microsoft to pilot the HoloLens, an augmented reality device that allows customers to see a representation of kitchen design options by overlaying images onto real-world spaces, allowing customers to look at a representation of a new kitchen that’s to scale with their current kitchen’s space.

The HoloLens was previously available in only two Lowe’s locations (in Seattle and Raleigh, North Carolina), but soon that number will increase to five, according to an article from USA Today. The three new locations have not yet been announced.

In addition to being more widely available, the upgraded HoloLens allows users to select items saved in their Pinterest accounts and match them to similar items from Lowe’s, according to the USA Today article. Users can then add those items as holograms to view as part of the new representation.
