Touchless faucets and automatic flush toilets are present in many restaurants, rest stops and malls across the country.
The products are also making their way into homes as manufacturers create models that look trendy in kitchens and bathrooms.
A panel of 15 retailers responded to a recent questionnaire from Hardware Retailing magazine, answering questions about plumbing and technological advancements. The results showed that many retailers do not carry touchless plumbing products. However, 25 percent of respondents indicated that customers are coming into their stores asking about those items.
One easy way to begin adding new technology to your plumbing department is to include touchless kits with your inventory.
Many manufacturers produce touchless flush kits, which range in price from $40 to more than $200. Some kits are triggered upon movement, whereas others require a hand to be waved to trigger flushing. Faucet adaptors allow for a hands-free experience in the kitchen, with some adaptors costing about $50. The adaptors can be added to the current sink by simply attaching it to the spout.
While big box stores may have a wide assortment of plumbing fixtures that have touchless features built in, your store can offer consumers affordable and practical alternatives.
