Using mobile platforms to engage customers will attract young shoppers, according to a recent webinar.
Pat Murphy, vice president of mobile relationship management for FunMobility, and Linda Roark of California-based Pete’s Ace Hardware, addressed the mobile best practices for hardware stores in the webinar.
Murphy discussed mobile as a growing platform that is essential for retailers to capitalize on if they want to capture the younger demographic. He emphasized that mobile is important because mobile customers spend more than non-mobile customers and are on their phone about 2 1/2 hours per day.
Engaging with customers via a mobile platform will attract young customers who are new homeowners, possibly pulling them away from shopping at the big box stores and into the local stores.
Murphy’s company, FunMobility, engages mobile customers through text messaging them coupons. Home improvement retailers who have used this marketing tool have seen bigger basket sizes, higher order sizes and better engagement.
