Lumber Distributor Spahn & Rose Acquires Building Materials Store

Spahn & Rose Lumber Co., a lumber distributor based in Dubuque, Iowa, has reached an agreement to purchase Moeller & Walter, a full-service building design and materials store in Reinbeck, Iowa.

Spahn & Rose will acquire Moeller & Walter’s real estate and business assets. In addition, Spahn & Rose will combine its nearby Grundy Center location into the Moeller & Walter facility.

“By combining the Grundy center location … we’ll be able to serve our customers better than either location could before,” says Dave Davis, CEO of Spahn & Rose. The company currently has 24 locations across Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin.

Lynn Trask, former majority owner of Moeller & Walter, will serve as general manager of the new business.

Spahn & Rose was founded in 1904 and is a leading lumber and building materials distributor in the midwest. In February, the company acquired Dunn Lumber Co.

Moeller & Walter, founded in 1876, provides building materials for residential, commercial and farm projects.
